Located in the picturesque Waihopai Valley, Mt Olympus is a high county station currently running Merino wethers and 140 Angus breeding cattle and has run Merino ewes in the past. The property is extremely well tracked making for practical farming and easier mustering with good infrastructure throughout including a 4-stand wool shed, multiple shedding options, Airstrip, Cattle yards, 2-bedroom farm cottage, and a very well presented 1912 farm house that has been renovated into a great character homestead.
The land is a mixture with some flats, rolling to moderate/steep and then steeper country at the top boundary being Mt Olympus itself, which enjoys 360 views down over the Wairau Valley, and out over the Waihopai River and to Mount Tapuae-O-Uenuku. The property has a range of altitude from 300 to 1116 (MASL). The farm has good natural water with dams and creeks throughout. On the Nor West boundary you will find a land locked conservation reserve which is an added bonus if you are a keen hunter with an abundant number of game animals in the area.
Although this Station is currently run as a dry stock property, the valley is rapidly filling up with forestry and this property is no different and could easily be planted out into a large-scale commercial forest.
The property also has a few potential passive income streams with 178.5 Ha entered into the ETS scheme and currently accruing around 8-10 tons per Ha with the current price being around $25 per unit. There is also potential for honey, hunting and or tourism.
The valley is a real rural community and is an easy commute into the country town of Renwick and Blenheim. With the school bus turning outside the gate, an abundance of summer swimming holes and everything else this high-country property offers.
